Partners & Collaborators
Voices Against Violence has built an outstanding reputation as a community-oriented, grassroots, non-profit organization based on decades of experience and effectiveness. One of the essential components of success is collaboration.
Voices Against Violence continues to establish and cultivate relationships with a wide range of community organizations, non-profit groups, governmental entities, social service agencies, schools, places of worship, local businesses, and the area foundations in order to increase the effectiveness of outreach efforts and programs throughout the city. VAV believes working together is essential to optimize limited resources and maximize success for neighborhoods most in need and the people who live there.
Voices Against Violence has long-standing relationships with the Pittsburgh Coalition Against Violence, the Center for Victims of Violence, the Pittsburgh and Allegheny County police departments and court systems, the South Pittsburgh Peacemakers, and a wide variety of other anti-violence and community organizations in and around the City of Pittsburgh, like Cease Fire PA and Moms Demand Action. VAV provides expertise and unites forces to make a positive impact in local communities and the lives of area youth.
Voices Against Violence is proud of our newest partnership: Providing Mental Health Services through a collaboration with the Steel Smiling organization. Steel Smiling bridges the gap between community members and mental health support through education, advocacy, and awareness. This group will be able to provide on-site mental health services and an honest engagement with the youth in an environment they find to be familiar and comfortable. Steel Smiling utilizes counselors and trained mental health first-responders who are better able to connect with the participants of the RJP because these mental health professionals and volunteers come from a similar background. This strong collaboration with Steel Smiling will provide VAV with a way to not only address the emotional well-being of the individuals in their programs, but also their families, as well as the communities they serve.
